In Ayurveda, health is always about balance, unity, and harmony: between physiology, psychology, and emotions. According to Ayurvedic experts, all diseases first manifest at the level of consciousness. In the so-called “subtle body,” an incorrect emotion arises, and gradually an imbalance of energies develops, disrupting the flow of energy. This imbalance leads to dysfunction in organs and systems, and subsequently, to various diseases. Therefore, purification of the body and mind, proper nutrition, a daily routine, and harmony between soul and body are the foundations of Ayurveda.
Ayurveda states that a person consists of five elements: air, water, earth, fire, and ether. From these basic elements, the doshas (human constitutions) are formed: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Every person has a unique combination of doshas, and this combination determines their physical and emotional characteristics. When they are in balance, a person is healthy; however, if disharmony arises between the doshas, it leads to the development of diseases.
